    BI-LED: MORIMOTO M LED

    DESCRIPTION

The latest and greatest Morimoto Bi-LED Projector has arrived. More

Purists: Will start their critique before they get their hands on it. “But no!” they say. LED based projectors lack width! LED projectors have weak distance! LED projectors have poor high beams! At TRS we love good old HID-powered projectors more than Kanye loves Kanye…BUT….Truth be told, it's hard not to like the MLED. The performance is on par. The simplicity is sublime. The ease of installation is excellent. The instant on is awesome. The times are changing, and now is the turning point.

M: Is for Mind blown. When Morimoto first announced the MLED projector back in 2015…we were all excited! But with barely any news on it since then, some started to get the impression that it was nothing more than a myth. But then a working prototype showed up alongside Morimoto's laser concept at the 2017 DVN Conference in Detroit. Now…now it's here, and man it seems to be worth the wait. Here's why.

Output: We'll just start with the hotspot. It's on par with the Mini D2S 4.0 and a XB 45K Bulb / XB55 ballast, and about 20% brighter than it's closest LED-based competitor: the CNLight i-lens. The Kuria optic clear lens and curved cutoff shield produce a beam pattern that's plenty wide, with an ECE-sloped cutoff that's super sharp, colorful. Rather than off-the-shelf LED's like early LED projectors in the aftermarket, the MLED uses a specially developed CSP chipset from Seoul SemiConductor. To top it all off, the “M” icon that's projected onto the ground thanks to the special foreground limiter is just plain cool.

Physically: It has a lot going for it too. The threaded mounting shaft can be removed from the projector to free up almost an inch of depth for those who don't need/want it. The integrated mag-lev fan is sunk into the heat sink, keeping space to a minimum without sacrificing the ability to stay cool. The wiring is clean, out of the way, and can be disconnected with ease. The precision and existence of mostly die-cast (rather than stamped) parts in the cutoff shield mechanism makes for a slop-free setup and conveys quality over cost savings. It could pass for an OEM part.

Simplicity: Forget about separate bulbs. Forget about big ballasts, or where to mount them. Forget about complex relay harnesses, and where to run them. Here, you've got the projector and a small external LED driver to regulate power and control it's low and high beam function. If you're a clutter phobe, or simply tight on space working on something like a motorcycle: the MLED is the way to go.

EASY TO INSTALL: On a H4-based headlight reflector for example…Remove the headlight lens, insert the threaded mounting shaft through the pre-existing hole in the back of the reflector, add the alignment plate, tighten the lock ring, and re-seal the headlights. For other applications, minimal cutting will probably be involved but you'll find the results well worth it!

Worth it? If you want the latest and greatest, Yes. It is. Want to produce about the same amount of light output for your money? The Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 is probably better for you – only because it's less expensive. But consider this: Yeah, the Morimoto M-LED projectors are expensive, but unlike an HID-based retrofit, you wont need bulbs, ballasts, in many cases a wire harness. You just need some shrouds, and that's about it! The rest is here.

    D2S: OSRAM XENARC 66240 NIGHTBREAKER

    DESCRIPTION

The Best: Over 5 years ago, Philips released the 85122+, and as great of a bulb as it is – it's old news now that Osram's latest 4200K competitor, the 66240 Nightbreaker.More

Brightest: What makes them so amazing? Osram touts their Nightbreaker D2S bulbs as having “up to 70% more light” output compared to traditional OEM D2S bulbs. How this is possible we have no clue, but what we can tell you is that they're bright, really, really bright. A technical marvel indeed!

Genuine: Vikom is proud to offer these bulbs in their original retail packaging from Osram. We pride ourselves on being one of the last few distributors shipping genuine Philips & Osram lamps in Australia. It is estimated that 80% of these bulbs sold through outlets such as eBay or Amazon are fakes.

    MORIMOTO: 2STROKE LED

    DESCRIPTION

On the success of other automotive lighting products from Morimoto, we’re proud to finally introduce the 2Stroke LED Headlight bulbs.More

Dime a Dozen: Everybody wants H7 LED headlight bulbs today, but for all the wrong reasons. The diverse marketing tactics and the numbers war that’s pushed onto ill-advised consumers is only getting more and more amusing to guys like us who actually know better. 100W? 10,000 lumens? Top-secret LED chip formula with seemingly exotic blend of rare materials or fancy coatings? Cool story, bro, but how do they actually work on the road at night? Isn’t that what headlights are for?

2Stroke: Despite the fact that we haven’t really had anything to offer in this niche, well, at least without risking our reputation selling our customers something that we truly didn’t believe in: We respect the fact that Morimoto stood on the sidelines for so long, simply learning from everybody else’s mistakes. In testing the 2Stroke system side by side with a multitude of other designs, we finally became excited about LED headlight bulbs for the first time. Against the odds and certainly our expectations; seeing is believing and we agree they actually work pretty darn well! Here’s why.

Safety: You won’t be putting yourself at risk while driving at night with the 2Stroke Bulbs. Prior to this, we could only ever comfortably recommend LED bulbs for use as auxiliary lighting, high beams, fog lights, etc. Here, we test a lot of automotive lighting products. (really, a lot) Until now, there were literally no options that would translate their luminosity out onto the road into a useful-enough beam pattern (and measured lux at a distance) to really call adequate for on-road use. The optics for the H7 2Stroke bulbs are unique compared to other sizes in the range in order to produce the best possible results in H7 headlights.

Cool:Heat management is crucial for reliability when it comes to LEDs. Here, a copper heat-pipe extracts as much heat as possible from the area surrounding the LED chips and transfers it to the stacked aluminum radiator at the back of the bulb. No need for a cheap ball-bearing computer fan like other designs.

Fitment:The XB bulbs feature a waterproof, external LED Driver with weather-resistant inputs and outputs. This allows for easier serviceability, and a much smaller bulb base – allowing the bulbs to fit inside most automotive headlights without any interference with the housing caps, etc.

    MORIMOTO XSB LED HALOS

    DESCRIPTION

The meaning of what an “angel eye” is, the 2.0 version of the Morimoto XSB LEDs are the culmination of every practical lesson learned since LED halos hit the market.More

Redefining: Usability. Reliability. Intensity. Uniformity. Simplicity. Flexible functionality. Last but not least; affordability. Nothing has been sacrificed.

Usability: There are three micro-mounts integrated into their backing, making the XSB’s the easiest and cleanest rings on the market to install. Now you can forget about failing glue or wires wrapped around the face of your halos forever. Don’t be “that guy” with dripping glue or picture hanging wire visible inside your headlights.

Reliability: The innovative Hybrid-LED technology delivers a virtually infinite lifespan of 50,000 hours. That’s almost six straight years! Because they’re based on much more stable and mature SMD-LEDs; they are considerably more reliable between hot/cold cycles compared to “new” COB based halos. This video explains the XSB LED technology a bit more in detail.

Intensity and Uniformity: A special blend of silicone and phosphor covers the face of each ring. This proprietary coating is responsible for the neutral “white when off” look of the XSB’s and their amazing, uniform intensity – which is unlike anything else on the market.

Simplicity: Wiring is easy with a variant of the X Change Module integrated into the updated 2nd Gen LED drivers that powers each ring. The white wire receives a constant 12V+. The black wire is grounded, and the yellow wire is tapped into the turn signal circuit.

Flexibility: Though they come out of the box ready to run as a switchback system, the XSB halos can easily also be wired for use as a white-only or amber only halo!

Size Matters: Doing a projector retrofit and not sure which size XSB halo you’ll need for your shrouds? Check out our Sizing Guide.

BI-XENON MORIMOTO MINI STAGE III (H1)

    DESCRIPTION

The Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III Retrofit system is literally the number one selling kit in our catalog. Based around the latest H1 7.0 bi-xenon projectors and Elite HID system; it’s most universal projector retrofit kit in existence.More

Game Changer: The Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III Retrofit system is literally the number one selling kit in our catalog. Based around the latest H1 7.0 bi-xenon projectors and Elite HID system; it’s most universal projector retrofit kit in existence.

Easy to Install: With the Mini H1’s threaded mounting shaft that fits through the pre-existing hole in the back of your headlight reflector; They make retrofitting projectors easier than ever with little to no mods.

Lucky #7: Let’s keep it simple and make a list of everything new about Morimoto’s Mini H1 7.0. The optically clear lens. The 7-signed metal lens holder. The side-push bi-xenon solenoid mechanism. The die-cast radically curved cutoff shield. The foreground limiter. The reflector bowl. The IR, high-temp resistant reflector finish. The threaded shaft and it’s precision and added length. The results! The beam is wider. The distribution of light more proper. Your ability to see is better.

Morimoto XB35 Ballasts: Feature relocated igniters like OEM ballasts putting them far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up giving them a failure rate of less than .02%>

Morimoto XB H1 Bulbs: At the heart of the XB H1 bulbs is their perfectly aligned 100% Philips Quartz glass that houses a capsule from APL-USA. Using high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer; the bulbs produce nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the amazing Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you’re not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.

Morimoto Relay Harnesses: Have fully-sealed weather pack relays with revised circuitry, heavy-duty 14ga stranded copper wire, injection molded inline fuse holders, and full plug-n-play functionality. Forget about cutting and splicing, because all harness options in this kit will make your new low and high beam function perfectly from the original cabin controls.

Accessorize: The optional Retro-Rubber glue is the most effective solution to fight back against moisture-intrusion after resealing your headlights. For the cost, it’s “cheap insurance” for sure. Want to add LED Halos to accent the new projector setup? Check out new all-new XSB LED Halos and our Size Guide, so you can pick out the right rings for your shrouds.

    D2S: OSRAM XENARC 66240 CBH

    DESCRIPTION

The King: Wait what? Yeah, we thought Osram's CBI was the best…until they released the CBH in Q2 2016. It is the currently the brightest 6000K D2S bulb on the market, period.More

Amazing: What makes them so amazing? Osram's Cool Blue Intense (CBI) bulbs broke all the rules when they produced more lumens than a comparable 4300K bulb while offering a whiter 5500K light output. But now…they've done it again with the Cool Blue Hyper. Even more light output compared to the Cool Blue Intense, but in a 6000K version. Mind blown!

Bottom Line: Most people who prefer OEM bulbs these days prefer Osram. Most people who prefer Osram prefer the CBI. Most people preferred the CBI because it was the brightest…so we have a feeling these will pick up in popularity pretty quick!

In Testing: Powered from the same Matsushita ballast and projected through a new Morimoto 4TL-R Bi-xenon projector, the CBH trumped all. We'll let the numbers do the talking. Philips 85122 WX: 223 Lux. Osram D2S CBI: 316 Lux. Osram D2S CBH: 332 Lux!

Genuine: Vikom is proud to offer these bulbs in their original retail packaging from Osram. We pride ourselves on being one of the last few distributors shipping genuine Philips & Osram lamps in Australia. BI-XENON: MORIMOTO MINI H1 7.0

    DESCRIPTION

With an all-new wider and multifaceted reflector and bowl new optics pumping out the light; the ultra popular Morimoto Mini H1 projectors perform better, install easier, cost less, and fit a wider applications than ever. More

Game Over: Morimoto has always been the benchmark when it came to the Mini H1…But no matter how many imitations popped up over the years, they just couldn’t compare, and now it’s most certainly too late to catch up. The 7.0 represents the most massive overhaul in Mini H1 history.

Lucky #7: Let’s keep it simple and make a list of everything new about the 7.0.

Easy to Install: Now even easier to install with a longer threaded shaft compared to the 6.0! Their amazing ease of installation relative to the amount of performance they produce makes them our most popular projector. Simply remove headlight lens, insert the threaded mounting shaft through the pre-existing hole in the back of the reflector, hand-tighten, check rotation, tighten, and re-seal headlights. Minimal cutting involved. (if any!) Check out the Installation Procedure

Performance Shootout: With the most modern optics, an optically clear lens, and their curved cutoff shield; The 7.0 will outshine almost every OEM HID projector on the market and go head to head with the legendary S2000 projectors! (which cost 3x as much, are much harder to retrofit, and don’t even have a high beam) Their wide, uniformly lit low beam stays intense all the way to the outer limits. Their bi-xenon high beam provides an insane amount of additonal light on demand.

Standard Equipped: With your choice of either Mini Gatling Gun or Mini Graphite shrouds to keep things compact and easy to assemble. Full size shrouds are also compatible with the Mini’s using the centric rings.

User-Approved: By satisfied enthusiasts with all kinds of cars and trucks. With a quick and easy search we pulled up install examples (1,2,3,4,5) of the previous gen Morimoto Mini H1 Projectors! If you’re looking for inspiration for your retrofit, keep reading!
